The focus of this data collection was the historical overlap in readership of US daily newspapers in several city markets in the period spanning 1929-1970. These data are obtained from readership surveys conducted by the newspapers themselves or by advertising associations. The data report the average daily readership of groups of daily newspapers in a given city and year.The sampling is determined by the newspapers or the advertising associations that conducted the readership surveys.
